Quotes from Feynman's Rainbow by Leonard Mlodinow

If an ape can make a discovery, so can you.

Quotes 2 from Feynman's Rainbow by Leonard Mlodinow

I felt that to have a job - any job - in academic physics was a preivilege. People sometimes scoff at academica because of the relatively low pay. But I had seen too many adults work too many hours at jobs they did not like in order to amass things they only thought they needed, and then, decades later regret their "wasted" years. And I had seen my father work long, arduous hours just to make ends meet. I had vowed to have a better life than that. The most valuble asset I figured I could earn was the ability to spend my time doing something I liked.

How very true. Society demand that we make a contribution. Otherwise you will be an outcast.

Quotes from Feynman's Rainbow by Leonard Mlodinow

I just finish a book. Within I saw this paragraph. It is what Richard Feynman was telling Leonard Mlodinow when he asked "Who are you as a person and how has being a scientist influenced your character"

I don't even know what that means, to underderstand yourself on a personal level. I hear people talking about things like,Ï have to find out who i am."I don't know what they are talking about. I can say that certainly I've learned an awful lot about myself by studying biology. I know how I am put together. I have a big theory about how I operate mechanically. But that's not understanding yourself on a personal level.

I can say I am a scientist. I find excitement in discovery. The excitement is not in the fact that you've created somthing, but that you have found something beautiful that's always been there. So scientific stuff affects every part of my life. And affects my attitudes toward many things. I can't say which is the cart and which is the horse. Because I'm an intergrated person and I can't tell you whether for instance my skeptism is the reason I am interested in science or my science is the reason I am skeptical. Those things are imposible. But I want to know what is true. That is why I look into things. To see and to find out what is going on. -END-

I was inspired. There are a few more paragraphs which I would like to share. Hopefully I will be able to dig them out and post it. The book is due tomorrow.

Retail Threapy

Once again retail thearpy is put in play. A few days ago, I setup a skype call for my wife to her fren in the UK. She happen to have a vid camera for her skype and she was so happy to see her. Her friend would be happier if my side had a webcam.

So Yesterday on the 21 of june in 2006, after popping up in Plaza Singapura for a quick and purposful meeting with my ex-school mate, I bought this Creative webcam from their boutique outlet in PS.

So to my Skpye frens (Currently only 2. You know who you are) see you online. Literally.

Personal Space

Personal space. Everyone need to have some space of their own. Even in a crowded location.

I went to Sentosa over the weekend and had this irritating experience while I was queuing to go into the 4D Magix theatre. There was this Indian couple behind me. The husband has a tummy bigger than mine. He felt that if he push harder, he can get into the theatre faster. So with his tummy he bump into my back. Again and again. Time after time.

What the hurry man!!! The theatre can only take so many people. Why make it more uncomfortable for those in the queue? So in the end, I had to protect my personal space. I strategically place my elbow. So instead of bumping into my back, the big ball of flesh is stopped by my elbow. Leaving me my precious personal space.

But sad to say, he never learn. We are from different culture and country. I hinted. But he did not catch it. He still bump his pot of lard into my elbow consistently.

Well. Over and done with.

Que Sera Sera

When I was just a little girl,
I asked my mother,
"What will I be?
Will I be pretty?
Will I be rich?"
Here's what she said to me

"Que sera, sera,
Whatever will be,
will be;
The future's not ours to see.
Que sera, sera,What will be, will be."

When I was just a child in school,
I asked my teacher,
"What will I try?
Should I paint pictures"
Should I sing songs?"
This was her wise reply:

When I grew up and fell in love.
I asked my sweetheart,
"What lies ahead?
Will we have rainbows
Day after day?"
Here's what my sweetheart said:

Now I have Children of my own.
They ask their mother,
"What will I be?"
Will I be handsome?
Will I be rich?"I tell them tenderly:

"Que sera, sera,
Whatever will be,
will be;
The future's not ours to see.
Que sera, sera,
What will be, will be.
Que Sera, Sera!" Posted by Picasa

The Eureaka Place

Ever wonder which place is the most relaxing in your home? I would say that it is the bathroom. The bathroom is the place where you wash away your sweat, dirt and grim at the end of the work day. It is also the place, where instead of receiving shit at home, you are passing it to someone/something else. Literally.

History has shown that bathroom has been the catalyst to a number of invention. Euraka. Remember it is always illustrated with the guy in the bath tub? (Cannot remember who that was). Bath, the Roman type or Japanese is also the source of many successfull business deal discussion. Cos both party when relaxed, tends to be more agreeable. Not to mentioned people think better when relaxed.

So Bathroom is The place in the house.
